No To Video Surveillance Expansion
Co-Exec. Dir., Tara Miller testifying at Seattle City Council.
Speak out at Seattle City Council’s meeting on September 9 to oppose expanding the video surveillance! This was first introduced last year, impacting the parts of our city most inhabited by Black, brown, and poor communities. It was supposed to be a 2-year pilot before expanding. Less than 1-year later, City Council is pushing this expansion effort. This is not the time to rush surveillance, that can and has been misused by federal law enforcement to violate human rights. This article from The Urbanist has a great overview.
We have drafted a template to support your efforts to speak out against the dangers of increasing surveillance in Seattle, especially of our migrant, LGBTQ+, and neighbors of color and impeding on reproductive choice and freedom.
