Our Values

The Church Council builds collective power by accompanying, facilitating, and convening faith communities in Seattle, King County, and South Snohomish County.

Since 1919, the Church Council has been at the forefront of working for justice in the greater Seattle area. From a dedicated council of churches who determined our collective priorities for issues that impacted our communities, to addressing some of the key gaps in supporting our neighbors by initiating many direct service programs that still exist today, to advocating at city hall for policies that center the communities most impacted by systems of injustice – many individuals, faith communities, and community organizations have been on this journey with us for a long time.

The most recent transformation we have made is our shift to community organizing as the foundation to our mission to build collective power for transformational change toward liberation and justice. The Church Council builds collective power through organizing people and organizing resources, centering our work in antiracism practices and following the leadership of communities most impacted by systemic oppression.

Our Mission

The Church Council of Greater Seattle envisions a future when justice is realized, where all people experience liberation, profound peace, expansive equity, and joy-filled human flourishing.

Our Vision
