Drag Fundraiser Recap!
The Church Council hosted our first Drag Fundraiser: "Clerics, Abbotts, and Heretics: Oh My!" on Sunday, May 18th! This show has been a dream of ours for the past 2 years. This night was not just about fundraising to support the Church Council's work, it was also a night of joy - holding firm to the value that our very existence is one of the strongest forms of resistance we can embody in this moment. Especially now, as attacks against trans communities and especially trans kids, are growing, as well as increasing violence against migrant communities, we believe that we have a moral obligation to celebrate the vast diversity of our network and lead proudly from our identities, as together we build collective power for transformational change.
Because you voted to see your one our of community leaders in drag, you bought a ticket to the show, or you tipped your favorite performer... We are proud to share that we received over $11,000 in donations through this event. We not only met our goal, but surpassed it!
