Race still matters in America today. How can we raise children who go beyond the superficial notion of colorblindness to see and challenge the ways that privilege still shapes our lives? How can parents prepare to seize the teachable moments that arise when we least expect them?

Kids and Race workshops consists of two concurrent sessions, one for adults and one for children. The session for adults uses a combination of lecture and open discussion to show how the stories we unintentionally tell our children can cause negative views of people of color that detrimentally affect both white children and children of color.

The children’s session utilizes art, music, movement, and story telling to grow confidence and self esteem while fostering empathy for people of color and other marginalized groups.

Kids and Race makes every effort to be accessible. Venue is ADA friendly. Language interpretation including ASL is available with two weeks’ notice, please contact Kidsandrace@gmail.com to request.
